High calibre judging panel announced for Ceres’ challenge to pupils to Reimagine a clean energy future
An incredibly talented, all-female panel have been appointed judges in school STEM competition Reimagine, which is being led by UK high-growth clean tech company, Ceres. The five judges have exceptional experience spanning engineering, science, media and public life. The competition aims to encourage pupils at secondary schools to bring to life the role hydrogen can play in decarbonisation.
As part of this year’s Hydrogen Animation Challenge, school children aged between 11-18 years old are being asked to submit up to three minutes of animation explaining an exciting scientific concept that is relevant to the net zero mission. Judging their efforts will be:
- Gabrielle Walker PhD, climate change scientist, TED speaker and founder of Rethinking Removals
- Professor Dame Julia King, Baroness Brown of Cambridge, British engineer, Chair of STEM Learning UK and crossbench member of the House of Lords
- Cecilia Weckstrom, Senior Global Director and Head of Diversity & Inclusion at LEGO Group
- Eman Martin-Vignerte, Director at Robert Bosch GmbH and Chair of CBI South East
- Caroline Hargrove PhD, Chief Technology Officer at Ceres and recipient of an OBE for services to Engineering
The closing date for competition entries is Friday 8th April 2022. Following a closed roundtable judging session, shortlisted schools will be taken forward to the final event and Awards Ceremony due to take place at the Science Museum in London on Thursday 30th June.
Caroline Hargrove said of the Reimagine Competition: “Ceres is a great example of a technology that has spun out of our world-leading research base in the UK that can really make a difference on our path to Net Zero, but we know that is not enough. Today’s school-aged pupils are the generation with the greatest potential to have an impact and if we inspire just a few to become the engineers and the climate scientists and the storytellers of the future, we will have succeeded with this competition.”
